RACING BREAKTHROUGHS

The early years of Lizzie's career were dominated by track cycling excellence, where she earned five World Championship medals, including a coveted World title. In 2012, she made the pivotal decision to focus on road cycling—a choice that immediately paid dividends when she secured Britain's first medal at the London 2012 Olympics with silver in the women's road race.

What followed was a period of unprecedented success. Lizzie systematically conquered every major one-day race on the WorldTour calendar, showcasing her versatility and tactical brilliance across diverse terrains and race conditions. This dominance culminated in her crowning achievement: the Road Race World Championship title in 2015.

MOTHERHOOD & RACING

In 2018, Lizzie gave birth to her first child, and true to her pioneering spirit, she challenged the inequalities faced by female athletes during this time. She was instrumental in advocating for UCI maternity clauses in women's professional contracts, creating lasting change for future generations of female cyclists. Her return to competition was nothing short of remarkable, winning the Women's Tour of Britain just six months after giving birth.

The final chapter of Lizzie's racing career continued to break new ground. She claimed the overall Women's WorldTour title in 2020 and made history in 2021 by becoming the inaugural winner of Paris-Roubaix Femmes. Her transition into coaching began in 2024 when she mentored Eyeru Testefoan, who went on to represent the Olympic refugee team in Paris—an experience Lizzie considers among her most meaningful Olympic memories.
